Marvel Studios expands its film universe with a new type of superhero: THOR. This epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
Thor arrives in New Mexico and is found by scientist Jane Foster while Mjolnir is discovered by an agent and confiscated by S.H.I.E.L.D. Thor discovered the location of Mjolnir and attacks the S.H.I.E.L.D facility to retrieve it only to find he unable to lift it and is captured by S.H.I.E.L.D. He is eventually freed and resigns himself to exile on Earth as he develops a romance with Jane.
Meanwhile, Loki discovers that he was adopted by Odin after the war ended. When Odin, overcome with stress, he falls into a deep sleep. Loki took over the throne and planning to kill Odin. Aster restoring his powers, thor prepares to return to Asgard to confront and fight his brother Loki.
